You will never live in a society when you have an armed citizenry and you won't have a single gun death. That is nonsense. It's drivel. But I am, I, I โ€” I think it's worth it. I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational. Nobody talks like this. They live in a complete alternate universe.

...what the fuck is going on in the USA.

If I can maybe assuage your fears a bit, while Kirk was assassinated (in the same year as a Minnesota legislator and her husband), that's actually a far rarer thing than you might expect in the U-S-of-A. While this doesn't make them any less tragic, it seems about to par with countries like Italy and France - not great, by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not a hellscape.

A few assassinations on Wikipedia's list (which I would highly recommend) tend to come from what the U.S.* is more notably suffering through; An epidemic of mass shooters and mass murderers, usually acting alone, killing ordinary people. Usually with a gun such as a pistol or rifle. Many of them seem to be motivated by either political or philosophical goals, personal vendettas, or it just...kind of happens? These are so common as to barely make a blip on the radar, while an assassination (especially one that got caught on film) absolutely turns heads these days.

So, not good, but it's not, like, India and the Naxalites or whatever. I'd recommend Googling papers on U.S. domestic terrorism and mass shootings, it might clear things up.

*I don't like calling it "America", but I'm in the minority on that.

The more I read online, and the more unhinged everyone seem. I get it's probably the fact that insane people get more exposure than normal ones, but sometimes it feels like the USA are on a permanent Purge.

No that wouldn't make it ironic, it just be plain murder. Kirk died for a very stupid reason that I'm still confused about because the rabbit hole is just to much. All I know is that it had to do with Groypers and kirk not being liked by them

Had nothing to do with Groypers or his feud with them, the shooter was a leftist.
