king dedede
King Dedede is the self-proclaimed king of Dream Land, Kirby's #1 rival, and a major character in the Kirby games. He was introduced as the final boss of the original Kirby's Dream Land, stealing all of Dream Land's food and hoarding it at Castle Dedede, and continued to appear as a primary antagonist afterwards, though often against his own will or acting to prevent a greater threat. Though greedy, self-absorbed and somewhat of a bully, he became more willing to team up with Kirby over time, and following a climactic duel in Kirby Super Star Ultra has become a recurring ally with his more positive traits emphasized, albeit one still prone to vices or brainwashing.
His preferred weapon is a wooden hammer, but he can also puff up to fly and inhale enemies like Kirby (though without the copy abilities). He is playable in the Super Smash Bros. series, starting with Brawl.
In Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, a more openly villainous and tyrannical King Dedede is the primary antagonist for much of the series, along with his snail sidekick (and punching bag) Escargon. He regularly receives monsters (not all of which are evil) from the Monster Delivery System, ordered from the intergalactic Night Mare Enterprises (through which eNeMeE unknowingly manipulates him), in his attempts to rout Kirby out of jealousy or pride.
