Straps worn over the shoulders to hold up pants, shorts, or a skirt.

Suspenders are typically detachable, with clips or buttons that attach to the waistline.

In British English they are known as braces, and the term suspenders or suspender belt refers to a garter belt used to hold up thighhighs.

Not to be confused with with overalls, overall shorts, or overall skirts.
