King of the dark elves in Final Fantasy I. He first appears disguised as a human king and tasks the party with recovering a crown, after which he reveals his monstrous form. He also appears in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin with a more standard elf design and extended backstory.
Dark Elf's design in Final Fantasy IV was also based on Astos's original artwork.
