Yeah, Age of Wonders 2 black elves do like their caves and spiders.

In Elder Scrolls Morrowind the entire continent is populated with Dunmer (dark elves). They are pretty racist and xenophobe and have slaves.

Honestly outside of Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk, quite a few D&D/d20/Pathfinder 1e/D&D 5e campaign settings have dark elves that aren't just matriarchal spider worshippers.

Like Scarred Lands' dark elves live in a mobile city that moves about underground, worship a god encased in a lead golem, and used to have close relations with the main continent's dwarves before the dwarves fucked up, and retreated during a battle that led to their dark elf allies getting fucked over.

And now they're xenophobes.

Hell Eberron's drow are pretty damn different to Forgotten Realms/Greyhawk's drow.

Though honestly, I do think Western dark elves are genuinely more interesting than Eastern dark elves.
