Pockets (Is that the first apperance of an actual pocket in Pocket Monsters?)

I imagine that they're stylized "rips" in the denim. When you've worn jeans for a while, the cuffs at the bottom wear out and expose the threads. (or maybe she cut her jeans and turned them into shorts)

...or maybe the artist felt he needed to add something stylish and impractical. But seeing as there are holes in her shorts, the worn, torn look makes sense.

Wonder how the upright citizen's of America will handle the white trash cutoff shorts. And those are definitely pockets, y' dweebs.

Yeah, they're most likely pockets. Makes sense when you look at it, and we'll finally have a suitable outfit.
I've fallen for this design, it looks so... normal, like something you could actually wear and get away with.

Pokemon's first Latina looking girl. <3

Like hell they're pockets. I could rip those pockets off her shorts and steal her change in one quick swipe.

They're denim frays.

They're not gonna put her as a 10 year-old girl are they? She looks like a teen...13 or higher to me.

Both protagonists are stated to be older than those of previous generations: http://kotaku.com/5536975/here-are-some-new-pokemon
It's near the end of the article.

To me, those shorts don't really look torn, but all stylish and impractical. Yeah.

Impractical? But it's so easy to feel up her legs now...

I'd steal her change, too, if you know what I mean....

They said the protagonists were goona be slightly older then before. Judging from this picture, how old woulg you say? 15? 16 maybe?
