EDIT: Never before have I been so dumbfounded by the score on a comment of mine. I'm confused why one person felt the need to upvote me, and even more confused why two people felt the need to downvote me. I was literally just answering a question someone had. I've had people downvote my answers to questions before, but in every other case, it's clearly because I had some kind of attitude problem (usually, I was being unnecessarily snarky); here, I just plainly and directly answered.
Normally, when I see downvotes on my comments, it stings a little, but this time I'm just confused. And it's even more confusing considering the question I'm responding to ALSO has a weirdly controversial score, except evidently one of the people who voted me down voted the question up??? So, they liked that someone had a question, but didn't like that someone answered it???
Again, I'm not even upset. Normally, I would be, because I have a paper-thin ego; but here, I'm honestly more fascinated why this random little interaction got so bizarrely controversial. I cared so little about this comment in the first place that my ego is undamaged, and the situation is so weird that I'm just WILDLY curious.
