The Hero and the Demon King 2
◆ Hero – Art: Maki Yanase
◆ Demon King – Art: Genmu
~A Post-Project Discussion by the "Gensou no Mori" Team~
Yanase: "We tried swapping roles, I drew the Demon King, and Genmu drew the Hero. But... the character I ended up with looks like a completely different person! (LOL)"
Genmu: "They’ve turned out looking quite a bit more mature, haven't they? (Haha)"
Yanase: "...Well, that’s just how I saw them... 'ho ho ho' (stares off into the distance)..."
Genmu: "I really enjoyed working on this one, so I don't have many regrets, though I suppose the Demon King’s body ended up being a bit too dark; it’s hard to make out what’s going on there. That’s a bit of a failure on my part."
Yanase: "But the red reflected light in the background is so beautiful! And the way the familiar is wrapped around him... and the wings, oh, the wings!" "That really hits the spot for me! (lol)"
Genmu: "(lol)"
Yanase: "As for mine... well, let's see, the character looks way too old, and the face is just... weird (haha)!
For a character, the face is everything, so looking at it now is just sad (T_T)."
Genmu: "So, it 'does' look old, then! (lol)"
Yanase: "Well, one thing I did like is that I’d never drawn a 'warrior-type' character before,
so it was a great learning experience for me."
Genmu: "It turned out to be a pretty solid warrior, though.
I’m just happy I got to draw one of the few 'serious' versions of the Demon King! (lol)"
Yanase: "Thank you so much, really! In a way, it’s quite a rare piece, isn't it?"
Genmu & Yanase: "(haha)"
