Notes:
- Little is known about Rien’s past before he joined the Pinky, not even his real name.
- His relic is a nagamaki called Tianxiong Star’s Blade, which can warp time around it.
- After a brutal run-in with the Cinq Association West that severely crippled them, he gained the moniker “Rien” because of how difficult he was to read as he cut his foes down.
- Because of his abilities, he was chosen by the House of Spiders to teach their future weapon his sword techniques.
- Ironically, Rien knows only one technique: Rend Space. On a whim, he tirelessly trained by practicing the same sword slash over and over for a decade until he could create a slash so powerful it defied the laws of physics.
- In an attempt to find a purpose other than delighting in the suffering of others, he started a family.
- Returning from a trip, he could only watch as his home burned to the ground with the bodies of his wife and daughter inside. The Index member responsible simply told Rien to “start from scratch.”
- He would spend his time obsessively painting that same fire, hoping to recreate the emotion he felt that night, one he could not define. Papers and unfinished canvases would litter his room.
- Rien is not permitted to leave his corridor unless necessary.
- He would often tell young Ryoshu stories of his time as a traveling vagabond and the sights he saw as he traveled from wing to wing, though she spared her the gruesome details.
- He has a degenerative illness that left him almost paralyzed, and he is often confined to his bed.
- Rien’s apprentice Sora would often play the koto for him as he rested, hoping it would ease his pain.
- Despite being skilled in writing, music, and combat, Sora is very meek and timid.
- Sora’s Effloresced E.G.O. is based on an oni
