Artist's commentary
For the longest time, whenever someone called my art "whimsical," I cringed. Whimsical wasn't how I wanted my art to be seen, and I used to wish I could create beautiful paintings like the ones you see in museums.
It took me a while, but I realized that is not me, and that is not my voice. Sometime last year, I let go of the idea of trying to be or create in a way that doesn't come naturally to me.
This year, I'm fully embracing it because I see whimsy as my strength. I've been working hard in this bear market—there's going to be a lot of new work, and I hope those who enjoy my work will love what I have coming. 🙂
