Thumb Callisto and Albina
Image Description
one more to go 🤙
Notes:
- Unlike the other Nursefathers, Callisto had no incentives to join the House of Spiders. He was neither disgraced nor coerced into joining.
- He enjoyed a comfortable life as a high-ranking member of the Thumb. However, finding his existence increasingly devoid of excitement, he volunteered to serve as the Thumb’s representative in the project.
- Before they allowed him to leave, pieces of Callisto’s brain were surgically removed. As a long-tenured Sottocapo, he knew too much, the Thumb could not risk valuable information leaking to rival Fingers.
- Callisto was born unable to feel pain. People would jokingly compare him to a machine. Because of this, he developed a romanticized view of pain. He sees it as proof that one is “living,” so he enjoys torturing enemies as a gift.
- He’s theatrical about it as he likens his victims suffering to that of an enduring protagonist in a tragedy.
- Callisto even mutilates himself from time to time just to feel something, going so far as to sew his eyes shut to heighten the sensation.
- Callisto educated Ryoshu in torture techniques to share his worldview of finding beauty in misery. At first it horrified the young girl, but as she grew older she became numb to it and even inspired by his “art.”
- In addition to teaching Ryoshu the art of combat, he also instructed her in proper etiquette, emphasizing that strength alone is not enough to earn respect.
- Callisto commissioned a gunsword for Ryoshu for a hefty price. After she destroyed it during her escape, he gave the weapon to his loyal apprentice Albina instead.
- Albina is extremely attached to her weapon and spends most of her time modifying it until it barely resembles its original form.
- Albina is very trigger-happy, dumping bullets whenever she gets the opportunity, which leads Callisto to punish her for wasting expensive ammunition. She does not care as long as her precious gun remains unharmed.
- Their weapons have opera-themed names: Callisto’s dual flintlock pistols are called Rigoletto and Gilda, while Albina’s minigun claymore is named Tosca.
- Callisto remains rather humble about his own combat abilities, claiming that his students, Ryoshu and Albina, have surpassed him.
