Still a weird ship

Yuri baiting with 2 popular characters instead of focusing on the characters that actually had a thing built up between them

Except Azur Lane, at least, the game, never yuri baited anything between these two or other shipgirls, they are all friends and comrades. It was the anime who took liberties. The only ones calling this yuri-bating would be the people that only came from the anime believing it was a yuri-game. The only that could qualify as yuri-bait would be Littorio and illustrious but, that was never intended to be taken seriously, since Littorio is a comic-relief type of flirter. (Sorry for the long text u_u)

Man, feeling compelled to apologize for two lines of text as too long. The absolute state of 2026.

But yeah I think you're right. For as much as Azur Lane has just devolved into gooner bait, it really doesn't dabble in yuri innuendo or whatever. I'd guess since they're trying to pander to the "I'm the king of the harem" fantasy, and characters lusting after anyone else but the MC would get in the way of that. (maybe?) And as is often the case, gacha players prove to be easily triggered, e.g. GFW type 97 drama.

Aaand that is exactly why I stay outside of fandoms. Crazy enough I got more into navy history because of Azur Lane. Crazy to see it's about to be 8 years.
