To be fair, the reason Kazusa needed so much help with math is because she's very much falling behind her peers, since she spent her entire middle school career committing crimes. She's a serious student now, but her former truancy puts her at a handicap. Trinity also seems like the kind of school that'd focus far more on the classical arts, so that explains Mika's thing.
