Should crib and cradle be aliased?

create alias crib -> cradle

  • Both have their own wiki pages, but only cradle is linked from baby, while crib is not.
  • The wiki page for cradle lists three aliases "(cot, crib, or stock)".
  • There doesn't seem to be any major distinction between the artworks containing either tag and people seem to have tagged with whichever word came to their minds first.

'Crib' is actually the word that came to me first, but I'm suggesting the aliasing in this direction because 'cradle' feels more "proper", in a way.

I think that even though they are tagged with whichever came to the tagger's mind first, these are still different objects that look different from one another and the tags just need to be gardened. I also think those other words for cradle on the wiki do not explain the distinction well. post #8940794 is a cradle. post #11979279 is a crib. They are different objects.

Wikipedia and dictionary.com also distinguishes between crib and cradle.

Wikipedia
Cradle: A cradle is an infant bed which rocks but is non-mobile.
Crib: Crib, an American English term for an infant bed. The name "crib" was used to describe a slatted, high-sided child's bed. It derives from the Old English word "cribb" which means "manger" (food trough, referring to the shape of a bassinette) or stall (implying corralling the child).

Dictionary.com
Cradle: a small bed for an infant, usually on rockers.
Crib: a child's bed with enclosed sides.

An additional note is age ranges for these. Cradles and bassinets are small and intended for babies for the first few months of life (up to 6 months of age). A crib is larger and may be used until around 2.5 to 3 years of age.
