If you make heavy use of our API, especially through hosting providers (Cloudflare Workers, Hetzner, etc), please make sure to update your user agent to include your user ID.
The user agent used by your programs should be meaningful and it should contain the following string: user #<id>, where the ID is your account ID. You can find it here. So for example user @nonamethanks would add the string user #508240 to their bots. A good user agent would be something like MyDanbooruBot/0.1.0; user #123.
We've seen a serious increase in aggressive scraping in the last few years, and the measures we've taken to block badly-behaved bots have sporadically impacted some of our legit users and useful apps that they've created.
We plan on being more aggressive against this kind of malicious bots in the future, so we're asking that you do this as a streamlined way to make sure that you can continue using our API without having to worry about being blocked by automatic anti-spam measures.
This will also allow us to contact you directly if your bot does not properly implement rate limits or causes us issues.
Keep in mind that trying to impersonate other users in this way will cause your entire range to be banned, and not the one of the user you're trying to impersonate, so troll at your own peril.
Some hosting providers may still be blocked despite this, especially ones prone to abuse. If you find yourself blocked and have no other hosting option, please send me details of your bot, user agent and hosting provider and I will add you to the whitelist.
